Manifesto·2024 / Vol. 02

Serious ducks
for un-serious
people.

We make ducks you don't want to drop in the water — you want to put them on a shelf. The small ones go in a pocket. The large ones go in a lobby. All of them go on camera.

01 — Index

The ladder, from thumb to bear.

One silhouette. Five scales. The same duck, readable from 4 cm to 3 m — the body proportions do not scale linearly, the duck must read as the same duck, not a slightly larger one.

02 — Production

One mould.
Five scales.
The same duck, repeated.

A fact base, not a brochure. Material, eyes, method, QC, compliance, care — six blocks, no marketing.

2.1

Material

Single-piece moulding of vulcanised rubber — food-grade silicone compound for Micro and Classic, natural rubber with EPDM additives for Designer, Mega and Architect. No plastic inserts, no metal inside, no glued seams.

2.2

Eyes

Painted post-vulcanisation with food-grade silicone dye. Black pupil, white sclera. Eye shape and position are invariant across every SKU — the same base relief, the same expression, repeated.

2.3

Method by line

Micro — injection, 8 cavities. Classic — compression, 1–2 cavities. Designer — hand-cast in silicone for runs up to 300. Mega — rotational moulding with internal fibreglass frame. Architect — sculptural casting against a CNC-milled polystyrene master.

2.4

Quality control

Five checks per duck: visual (no porosity, streaks, short shots), geometry (beak/eyes/feet present, proportions ±2%), drop (5 falls from 1 m), smell (no under-cured rubber), gravimetry (mass within ±3%). Architect additionally receives ultrasonic inspection of the frame's welded seams and an on-site assembly photo protocol.

2.5

Compliance

EN 71-3 chemical migration, REACH — no phthalates, no bisphenol A. Age-marked packaging: 6+ for Micro 4 cm with choking-hazard sticker, 3+ for Classic, 6+ (collector's object, not a toy) for Designer, decorative-only for Mega, certified-crew installation for Architect.

2.6

Care

Wash with warm water and mild soap. No abrasives, no alcohol, no bleach. Operating range −20 °C to +60 °C. Above +70 °C — deformation. Below −25 °C — embrittlement, especially Mega and Architect. Indoor only. Protect from direct UV and from oils or solvents.

04 — B2B · Custom

Pick from the palette.
We'll tint the mass.

Custom is not "paint on top" — it is body-through pigment, tinted before moulding. Twelve branded Pantone-equivalents in the Quacktory Pigment Menu. Lead time and price stay predictable.

4.1

The Pigment Menu

Twelve body-through colours. Pigment is mixed into the compound before moulding, so the colour goes all the way through the duck — not a skin. The duck can be chipped, scratched, and the colour underneath is the colour on top.

4.2

Lead times

Micro and Classic — 3 weeks. Designer — 6 weeks, with design sign-off from the collab author. Mega — 6 weeks. Architect — 12 weeks, including on-site survey, transport, climate-controlled crating and installation by certified crew.

4.3

Fully arbitrary colour

A third-party Pantone is a separate formula development. New line in the quote, plus two weeks to the lead time, plus fifteen percent to the price. We can match it — it just stops being a catalogue operation.

4.4

Custom geometry

A new duck shape or a brand mascot figure is a separate project. CNC-milled polystyrene master, fibreglass mould, internal steel frame with stiffening ribs. Discussed individually — this is sculpture, not a SKU.

Every shipment ships with a care card and a QR code pointing to the full production fact base.
